The eat well be active - Primary Schools project was funded by SA Health and co-managed with the Department for Education and Child Development (DECD) aiming to build the capacity of schools.
The eat well be active - Primary Schools project has given schools an opportunity to work with ACHPER (SA) from 2009 until December 2013 to build and promote sustainable curriculum outcomes and to provide supportive environments for healthy eating and physical activity.
ACHPER (SA) was contracted as a Service Provider by SA Health from Term 2 2009, and worked with 116 schools. As we come to the end of the Project, ACHPER (SA) staff worked in conjunction with School's to celebrate achievements, finalise plans and explore sustainability options beyond the life of the project.
The eat well be active - Primary Schools Project aimed to build capacity of schools to provide supportive environments for healthy eating and physical activity.
- Increase children's physical activity levels
- Decrease children's sedentary leisure time behaviours
- Increase consumption of water, fruit and vegetables
- Decrease consumption of energy-dense, nutrient-poor foods and drinks
